Whether you are travelling alone, with friends or with family, we invite you to share our celebrations in the magical Sahara desert as we welcome in the New Year 2012.
In the trusted hands of indigenous nomadic “Blue Men” you will experience our famous hospitality and culture as we settle by the campfire for an unforgettable night together.
Under a canopy of stars, you will be served a magnificent feast of oven-baked lamb or “mechoui” accompanied by the age-old songs and dances of the spice caravans which criss-crossed the Sahara in olden times.
As you slumber in a comfortable nomad-style tents, you will feel close to Mother Nature, protected in her arms, and truly alive as you experience a simpler way of living. The annual festivities offered by our Saharaoui hosts attract visitors from far and wide every year and not without reason. Whether it’s the silky softness of the sand, the sparkle of the Milky Way overhead, the humbling enormity of the landscape, or the simple generosity of the local community – you’ll want to return year after year.
Travelling by 4x4 from the village of M’Hamid el Ghizlane at the southern end of the Draa Valley you will cross 35 kms of stony hammada and desert piste to reach the magnificent towering dunes of Erg Chegaga before sunset. This is an ideal end of year celebration for single people wanting to join a larger group, families and groups of friends. You will share large bivouacs with comfortable mattresses and we supply everything you need – blankets, warm showers, toilets etc.
We can arrange for sand-boarding in the high dunes or a ride on a camel at sunset if you wish.
Single travellers please contact us so we can combine you with other travellers for transportation to Erg Chegaga.
We can also arrange your transfers from/to Ouarzazate, Marrakech and Agadir upon request.
