Trip Summary:
A music holiday in Morocco unlike any other! A 7-night tour for amateur Irish trad/folk or community musicians. For our first trip in 2011 we have Guest Artist and leading Irish traditional musician - percussionist/bodhran player, Tommy Hayes from Co. Clare. Informal workshops/tuition and jamming with local communities and children along the way. Culminates in a desert jam of Sahara music, combining darbouka and North African rhythms of the local nomads at their bivouac camp in the high dunes of Erg Chegaga. There will be time put aside for closed group workshops with Tommy Hayes, but the main feature is open community jamming sessions & school visit in desert village of M'Hamid el Ghizlane to share Irish traditional music and songs with local children. Plenty of time for sightseeing & relaxing too. This is a creative desert adventure coordinated and organised by our experienced desert team in Morocco and irish/English community arts facilitator.
Due to the nature of this unique trip and the desire to seek out opportunities for musical interaction and communities along the way, the itinerary is subject to 'fluidity'. Clients need to be flexible and willing to 'go with the flow'.
