SheherazadVentures is an innovative English-Moroccan travel company based in southern Morocco.

The company was created by English journalist, music broadcaster and former community artist, Rachel Blech, in partnership with Abdoul Chabli and his family from the Moroccan Sahara. As such, we understand the needs, fears and expectations of the traveller from a European perspective, as well as offering local expertise to bring you an authentic taste of Morocco. With personal attention to every detail of your trip from start to finish it is our mission to bridge the cultural gap and welcome you as part of our ‘family’ during your stay in Morocco.

We are a small Moroccan company that specialise in Sahara desert tours (4x4 and camel), community volunteering tours, and special-interest holidays which explore the rich and varied aspects of Moroccan culture throughout the year. We also work with Irish and U.K. tour operators hosting their clients while in Morocco.

What's different about us?

The main difference between our company and the myriad of others in the marketplace is our commitment to developing a range of community-based volunteering tours promoting cultural exchange and responsible tourism. Combining our passion  and experience in desert tourism, community arts and music, these adventure tours are aimed at like-minded individuals, solo travellers and groups. Our main centre of focus is the remote village of M'Hamid el Ghizlane at the door of the Sahara desert where we work in consultation with a local community development association.

There’s a breed of holiday-maker called the ‘tourist’…and then there’s the ‘traveller’. Which one are you?

'Tourists' tend to migrate in large herds, seeking a kinder climate and exotic souvenirs, but yet remain fearful of the natives and their customs.  Though they are naturally inquisitive, they are happy to observe from a distance through the toughened glass of a coach window and are satisfied to venture forth on well-worn paths, where previous ‘travellers’ have pioneered the way.

'Travellers' are risk-takers, they forage for themselves in small groups or even independently. They seek knowledge and experience at grass-roots level to get a deeper understanding of the country they are exploring. They gladly engage with the local language, people and traditions, returning home with memories etched upon their hearts.

We at SheherazadVentures are seeking out the ‘tourist’ who is on the cusp of becoming a true ‘traveller’ – those adventurous souls who want to feel the beating pulse of the country they are visiting, who want to make a difference to the communities they touch, but also want to be sure that they are in safe hands as they make the leap…
