Trip Summary:

An ideal trek for those wanting to experience the rugged beauty of the Sahara in the same way as the caravans of a bygone age. With your own camel and local guide, you’ll experience the wilderness of the Sahara at the gentle pace of the dromedary and set up camp under the African stars. Your guide will lead you gently across the different terrains, gentle dunes, harsh dry plains, shaded oasis and through the surprising pastures that bloom after rainfall. Your trip baggage and equipment is carried by camels, you will have your own camel for riding. Additional holiday baggage can be left securely at our base in M'Hamid until you return.

Meal Plan

Day 1

 

 

Morning depart from M'Hamid village with nomad guide and camels packed with food and equipment for the trek. You will have picnic lunch in shade of a nearby oasis and sleep near the marabout site of Holy Man Sidi Naji. 

Camping is in 2-man tent or under the stars.
Dinner cooked on open fire by your guide.

Day 2

 

 

Depart in the morning and continue for 3 hours toward the Screaming Dunes. AFter lunch continue to Screamin Dunes Ezzahar.

Camping is in 2-man tent or camp sauvage.
Meals cooked on open fire by your guide.

Day 3

 

 

Cross the Draa River on back of camel for 2 hours. Lunch in small sand dunes of Erg Asmar and shade of tamarist trees.

3 hours trek after lunch across flat hammada to dunes of Bougarn.

Camping is in 2-man tent or camp sauvage.
Meals cooked on open fire by your guide.

Day 4

 

 

3 hours trekking before lunch in Krayaat Jemal - the crossroads of the caravan. 3 houtrs more trekking and Spend night near the well in Oued Naam, the dry river bed.

Camping is in 2-man tent or camp sauvage.
Meals prepared on open fire by your guide.

Day 5

3 hours trekking after breakfast. Lunch in dunes of El Mezouaria.
Return to village of M'Hamid el Ghizlane after 3 more hours trekking by late afternoon.
